MKFA Ltd - Data Protection Notice

Who we are and how we use your data

Milton Keynes Financial Advice Ltd is the data controller for your personal information. We collect and use personal data to contact you, provide financial advice and services, meet legal and regulatory obligations, prevent fraud and crime, manage our relationship with you, and improve our services. Personal data is collected from you directly and, where relevant, from third parties such as credit reference and fraud prevention agencies.

What personal data we collect

We collect identity and contact details, financial information (including pensions, investments, income and liabilities), details of dependents where relevant, records of meetings and communications, feedback, complaints, and information about the services you receive. For certain products, particularly insurance, we may also collect special category data such as health information, but only with your explicit consent.
Some communications may be recorded to meet regulatory requirements.

How we use and share your data

Your personal data is used to assess your needs, provide advice, submit and manage applications, process payments, and maintain our records for compliance, audit, and quality purposes. We may share your data with product providers, insurers, investment platforms, IT and compliance providers, professional advisers, regulators, fraud prevention agencies, and others where required by law, or with your consent. We do not sell or rent your data. If data is transferred outside the UK, appropriate safeguards are in place.

Legal basis and your rights

We process your data as required to perform our contract with you, comply with legal and regulatory obligations, meet our legitimate business interests, and where applicable, with your consent. You have rights to access, correct, restrict, or delete your personal data, to object to certain processing, to request data portability, to opt out of marketing, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Data retention and contact details

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide services, meet legal and regulatory requirements, or deal with complaints or claims. Data is securely deleted or anonymised when no longer required. By signing, you give explicit consent to process special category data. If you do not provide consent for health information where required, we may be unable to advise on or submit certain applications, and quotes or eligibility may be affected.
